What is a stream?

Stream jobs refer to positions that involve the management, analysis, or delivery of streaming data or content, such as video, audio, or real-time information. This can include roles in live video broadcasting, content moderation, data engineering, or software development for streaming platforms. People working in stream jobs may be responsible for ensuring smooth data flow, maintaining high-quality user experience, or developing tools to process and distribute content efficiently. These positions are common in industries like entertainment, gaming, social media, and big data analytics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a stream engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stream Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, real-time data processing, and experience with distributed systems, typically supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency with tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or similar streaming platforms, along with knowledge of programming languages like Java or Scala, is essential. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills set outstanding candidates apart in this fast-evolving field. These skills and qualities ensure efficient, reliable real-time data processing and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing technical requirements.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in streaming media roles, and how can they be overcome?

Professionals in streaming media roles often encounter challenges such as managing high-traffic live events, ensuring content delivery to diverse devices, and troubleshooting latency or buffering issues. Staying current with rapidly evolving streaming technologies and industry standards is also essential. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—such as developers, content creators, and network engineers—is key to resolving technical problems efficiently. Gaining hands-on experience with streaming platforms and participating in continuous learning can help you excel and adapt in this dynamic environment.

Job Title: Live Sports Card Show Host | Whatnot Breaker & Live Stream Personality

Company: Mount Olympus Rips

Location: Plymouth, MN (On-Site Only)

Schedule: Evening/Night Shift | 5:30 PM-2:00 AM

Compensation: $50/hour + Tips | Top hosts run 6-8 breaks per night | Top performers earn $100,000+ annually

To Stand Out

Email tom@ontimetalent.com with a quick introduction about your sports card background, hosting style, any live streaming experience, and why you'd be someone collectors would tune in to watch every night.

You're Not Just Breaking Cards. You're Running the Show.

Mount Olympus Rips is looking for a high-energy Live Sports Card Breaker, Whatnot Host, and on-camera personality who knows how to entertain, engage collectors, and create an unforgettable live experience.

If you've watched Backyard Breaks, We The Hobby, Debut Sports, The Players Club, Tru Pullz, or your favorite Whatnot breakers and thought, "I could do that," we want to hear from you.

Maybe you've already built your own audience.

Maybe you've streamed on Whatnot, TikTok Live, Twitch, or YouTube.

Maybe you've spent hours talking sports, reacting to monster pulls, running auctions, and building a community around the hobby.

The difference here?

You don't have to worry about sourcing inventory, buying product, packing orders, or taking on inventory risk.

We handle the business behind the scenes.

You focus on putting on an incredible show.

Collectors don't come back because of the cards alone.

They come back because of the person opening them.

You're the reason viewers stay longer, bids climb higher, and buyers return stream after stream.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity
  • $50/hour + Tips
  • Top performers earn $100,000+ annually
  • Host 6-8 live breaks every night
  • Become one of the featured personalities of a rapidly growing Whatnot channel
  • No inventory investment, product sourcing, or shipping responsibilities
  • Work alongside an experienced backend team so you can focus entirely on entertaining
  • Build your reputation while helping grow one of the Midwest's fastest-growing live breaking brands
What You'll Do
  • Host live sports card breaks on Whatnot as the face of the stream.
  • Run hobby box breaks, team breaks, Pick Your Team (PYT) breaks, random team breaks, and personal breaks with confidence and energy.
  • Keep conversation flowing with sports talk, hobby insight, storytelling, and nonstop interaction.
  • Build excitement around case hits, 1-of-1s, autographs, RPAs, SSPs, numbered parallels, color blasts, downtowns, kabooms, and chase cards.
  • Welcome buyers, engage the chat, answer questions, and create memorable moments that viewers want to clip and share.
  • Stay current on Topps, Panini, Bowman, Fanatics releases, rookies, prospects, hobby trends, and new products across NFL, NBA, MLB, and NCAA.
  • Work alongside a backend operations team that handles sorting, packing, shipping, and fulfillment so you can stay focused on hosting.
What We're Looking For
  • A confident, high-energy live host with a natural on-camera personality.
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys entertaining and can comfortably speak live for hours.
  • Strong knowledge of sports cards, trading cards, Whatnot breaking, hobby boxes, Topps, Panini, Bowman, rookies, prospects, autographs, parallels, inserts, and modern products.
  • Ability to eliminate dead air, control the room, and keep viewers engaged from start to finish.
  • Experience with Whatnot, TikTok Live, Twitch, YouTube, podcasting, broadcasting, sales, content creation, or live auctions is a major plus.
  • Competitive, charismatic, quick-thinking, and comfortable performing in front of a live audience.
Why Mount Olympus Rips?

Breaking isn't just opening packs.

It's live entertainment.

It's creating moments collectors remember.

It's building a community that comes back night after night because they enjoy your stream.

At Mount Olympus Rips, you'll be more than a breaker—you'll become one of the personalities helping shape our brand while doing what you love alongside a passionate, hobby-first team.

Ready to Take the Mic?
