Job description

Strategy Manager leads the ongoing strategic planning effort department-wide. They will be part of the strategic analysis group in a Church Department or the Presiding Bishoprics Office. These teams have significant responsibility for strategic projects of the department. Members of this team work closely with the Managing Director of the department, and his/her team of Directors. The strategy office manages projects that may span multiple departments and international areas. Strategy manager present findings to General Authorities and department and area executives and are thus expected to have strong executive presentation and client relationships skills, a well-developed management consultant skillset, and a personal relationship with the Savior that will allow them to be guided by the Spirit. This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

This is an at-will, fixed-term position with the potential for continuation based on business needs and performance.

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, preferably with a strategy emphasis, and 7 years of strategy experience, including 3 years of management or project management experience. Additional credit will be given to those whose experience includes strategy consulting at a top tier management consulting firm, or an internal strategy group in a Fortune 500 company.

Proven ability to create a collaborative team environment. Able to influence strategic thinking, identify trends, and analyze data to impact recommendations. Comfort with ambiguous and complex situations and an ability to provide logical and coherent potential solutions.

Highly skilled in the use of standard desktop software such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (programming ability a plus). Capable of performing detailed, technical data analysis.

Ability to communicate effectively in a way that builds and improves relationships both orally and in writing. Must have excellent presentation skills and abilities. Must keep confidences and appropriately deal with sensitive data and documents.

Preferred:

Graduating from a top tier MBA school is a plus. MBA is strongly preferred.

5+ years of professional business operations experience preferred.

  • Oversees consulting projects that involve strategy development, organizational restructuring and management of the business to maximize efficiencies.
  • Works toward objectives established by upper levels of management. Receives guidance from senior leaders. Take ownership of delivering quality strategic proposals to the Managing Director and General Authorities. Lead the strategic diagnostic and receive approval for the course to follow
  • Act as a thought partner on key strategic initiatives and priorities with the managing director and other key directors
  • Works cooperatively with team members, directors and the managing director to determine long-term goals and objectives.
  • Drives key strategic initiatives. Projects include analysis and recommendations related to emerging trends, expansion opportunities, possible threats, viability of outside business partners, internal business performance and business process improvement
  • Will recommend departmental specific procedures and implements those that are approved.
  • Work to ensure key stakeholders inside and outside the department are unified behind the proposals
  • Define an implementation plan and help ensure successful completion
  • Manages staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Typically, professional employees in more technical and complex environments. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and customers. Fosters growth of staff and creates positive experience for individual staff. Managers ensure the team produces a quality product, hits deadlines, targets achieved and approved budgets contained.
