Job description


We are currently recruiting for a Strategic Development Specialist I for the BAE Systems, Inc. Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Sector's Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit in the Washington, DC area. The Strategic Development Specialist I will support company activities related to strategic development, customer engagement, and business development, spanning BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Sector's customers, such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Department of War (DoW), and the Intelligence Community (IC).
This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Development in Strategic Operations. The reporting location for the position is Arlington, VA.
The Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit, consists of Washington DC Operations, Marketing & Communications and Strategic Development. The StratOps team promotes and elevates the business within our markets, works with customers and industry to influence and drive growth and facilitate collaboration across the business enterprise to increase opportunities.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead development of value-added products that inform SMS Business Units' strategies.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement contact plans for SMS customers and stakeholders.
  • Represent BAE Systems AMS in the Washington, DC area by attending and distributing analysis of stakeholder/customer meetings and industry association activities.
  • Draft content for white papers, talking points, presentations, and materials to support stakeholder/customer meetings.
  • Provide assessments of markets and business opportunities, in coordination with the Market & Competitive Intelligence team within StratOps.
  • Ensure coordination of BAE Systems SMS messaging, consistent with strategies and goals.
  • Provide research and analysis on key policies and legislation impacting the BAE Systems AMS customer communities, including DoW, NASA, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster informative relationships with SMS customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in SMS programs, pursuits, and capabilities.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Skills and Education
  • BS/BA in a related field.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
