The pay range is $135,000.00 - $243,000.00

Position Overview:
As a Director of Enterprise Strategy Development, you will lead a team of business strategists, applying your strengths in strategic thought leadership, passion for team building, and strong leadership presence to shape Target's long-term strategic direction.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Lead multiple project teams on strategy consulting-like engagements that identify and seek to harness enterprise or business unit growth opportunities.
  • Provide bold vision, sound strategic judgment, day-to-day team leadership and development, structure, and project management through often ambiguous bodies of work in support of new growth opportunities within and outside Target's core businesses
  • Understand retail trends, competitors, and consumers to develop new concepts and businesses that meet future needs in the fast-evolving multi-channel retail landscape.
  • Become a strategic thought partner to senior executives, influencing decisions in line with business unit and enterprise strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and effectively influence without authority to drive business decisions and advance long-term strategic efforts.
  • Be responsible for long-term development of and advocacy for Direct Reports.
  • Coach and develop project team members (Principals, Leads, and Sr. Analysts).
  • Act as a core member of the Enterprise Strategy Development leadership team, prioritizing resources, setting overall team direction, and representing the team's professional and inclusive culture.
  • Directly lead and/or coach teams through a systematic approach to structured problem solving such as problem disaggregation, data and competitive analysis, financial opportunity sizing, and consumer research.

About you:
  • 4-year or advanced degree as well as post graduate degree (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience after graduate school in strategic project and people leadership roles or equivalent of 10+ years of strategic management experience including people leadership, assessing business strategies, leading advanced analysis and problem solving, and developing multi-year business strategies.
  • 4-5 years of prior experience, inclusive of executive-level dedicated engagement/project leadership experience with a top management consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc.) or in a Fortune 100-level corporate strategy group.
  • 5+ years of people management experience required, including leading and coaching leaders of people, with demonstrated success in motivation and leadership, including strong people leadership and team building skills.
  • An understanding of industry practices and the competitive retail landscape across channels and segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple, disparate projects at the same time, simultaneously managing working team, partner, and senior executive relationships.
  • Track record of developing and owning critical stakeholder relationships (VP/SVP/EVP-level) across the enterprise to help influence and guide strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to champion a team culture of bold strategic thinking and Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive; inclusive of hiring, training, coaching, and influencing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and leading strategic dialogue for SVP/EVP-level leaders.
  • Ability to take risks, challenge the status quo, and work under ambiguous circumstances.

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
