This is where you can learn from industry leaders and become one yourself. It's fast-paced, mission-based work that challenges the status quo. Be on the team that's changing the world.
What we're looking for:
Nexamp is looking to hire a Sales Development Manager to join our Site Origination team. You will be leading regional site origination efforts by identifying, qualifying, evaluating, and securing viable solar and storage site control leases in Nexamp's target markets. You will be responsible for driving regional origination strategy, guiding Site Origination Associates on market priorities and targeting efforts, and ensuring thorough site due diligence is conducted to assess project feasibility, mitigate development risk, and advance high-quality opportunities to Development. By building strong relationships with landowners, commercial property stakeholders, and community partners, while leveraging market intelligence, pipeline reporting, and cross-functional collaboration, the Site Origination Manager supports Nexamp's growth strategy and regional market expansion initiatives across assigned territories.
You will be hybrid out of Chicago, IL. You will report to the Director, Site Origination.
What you'll do:
  • Lead regional site origination efforts by identifying, researching, and evaluating potential solar and storage project sites through market analysis, outreach, feasibility assessments, and due diligence activities to advance viable opportunities with minimal development risk.
  • Guide and support Site Origination Associates within assigned regions by setting targeting priorities related to utilities, municipalities, substations, and market focus areas, while sharing best practices and providing day-to-day mentorship.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, brokers, developers, and other key stakeholders through multi-channel outreach, transparent communication, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
  • Negotiate and secure site control agreements, including LOIs, purchase agreements, and other land acquisition documentation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project viability standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with legal, engineering, development, and business development teams to assess site viability, mitigate project risks, and align origination activities with project timelines and strategic goals.
  • Manage and maintain a robust regional origination pipeline by tracking KPIs, monitoring market and regulatory trends, maintaining accurate opportunity data, and providing regional reporting and insights to Site Origination leadership.
  • Represent Nexamp in regional markets through industry engagement, stakeholder meetings, and special projects that support market expansion and origination strategy development.

What you'll bring:
  • Associate's degree with relevant work experience
  • At least 4 years sales experience, proven record of driving and closing deals in a high-performance sales environment.
  • Driver's license and ability to travel
  • Experience negotiating business terms in contracts and agreements.
  • Experience working within GIS software, conducting desktop land analysis.
  • Comfort with high-volume outbound communication via phone, email, and direct engagement including cold calls.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

If you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please apply.
At Nexamp, our mission is to build the future of energy so it is clean, simple, and accessible for all. We are committed to providing a work environment free from discrimination. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate against applicants on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. We have headquarters in Boston, MA and Chicago, IL, in addition to growing offices nationwide.
