We deliver mission-critical business impact fast, and as an intern, you will directly support our department in partnering with our customers to bring their best ideas to life. This 10-week, in-person internship program offers an authentic, real-world experience doing tangible and meaningful work to jumpstart your career.
Appian's Customer Success team is dedicated to enabling rapid, high-impact business transformation. We partner directly with organizations to model, orchestrate, and optimize their most complex workflows on the Appian platform. By joining this highly collaborative group, you will play a vital role in helping our clients succeed and driving Appian's leadership in the AI-Powered Process Automation market.
As an Associate Consultant Intern, under the mentorship of your project team, you will learn to build, deploy, and scale solutions using the Appian platform. This intensive, 10-week summer program provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on expertise with our software, build professional consulting skills, and make a tangible impact on real-world client strategies at our global headquarters.
This internship is based at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Interns in this program are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to fully experience our culture, learn directly from peers and mentors, and contribute to projects in a collaborative environment. Being in the office provides more opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate with the exceptional people across Appian.

What You'll Do
  • Build and deploy robust, web-based applications on the Appian platform to support our customers' digital strategies.
  • Partner with our customer success team and clients to analyze business strategies and model critical workflows.
  • Utilize a strong aptitude for analyzing business strategies and a passion for using technology to solve complex problems.
  • Design supporting change management artifacts and materials to drive user adoption of newly deployed digital solutions.
  • Collaborate in-person daily with peers and mentors, actively contributing to team deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field with a strong academic record. Must be returning to school following the completion of the Summer 2027 internship to continue degree requirements.
  • Program Availability: Ability to commit to a full-time (40 hours/week) schedule for the duration of the 10-week summer program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic or previous professional experience working with relational databases (such as Oracle or SQL) and cloud technologies.
  • Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, encompassing both the strategic development of AI-powered platform capabilities and the hands-on application of AI tools to accelerate daily workflows.
  • Prior experience in a technical internship or a portfolio of significant personal/academic projects.
  • A strong aptitude for analyzing business strategies and a passion for using technology to solve complex problems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
