Job description

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Strategy Management Office (SMO) will support the VP, SMO in coordinating execution of NVA's Strategic Long-Range Plan (SLRP) and related enterprise initiatives. This role is responsible for driving disciplined project management, maintaining integrated workplans, tracking milestones, preparing reporting materials, building templates and dashboards, and ensuring initiative owners have the tools and cadence needed to execute effectively. The role partners closely with cross-functional teams to monitor progress, identify risks and dependencies, support governance routines, and provide accurate, timely visibility into execution status and value realization.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate execution of SLRP and related strategic initiatives by maintaining integrated workplans, milestones, dependencies, action items, decisions, risks, issues, and escalations in current and organized portfolio trackers.

Build and maintain standardized SMO tools, templates, dashboards, reporting materials, governance artifacts, and executive-ready updates using Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Prepare recurring portfolio health summaries, KPI dashboards, decision-support materials, value realization reporting inputs, and status updates for review by the VP, SMO and other leaders.

Partner with initiative owners, functional teams, Corporate Finance, project management teams, and stakeholders in change management to gather updates, validate data, track commitments, and support timely execution of deliverables.

Support governance routines by developing agendas and pre-reads, capturing notes and decision logs, facilitating action item follow-up, and ensuring post-meeting commitments are tracked to closure.

Communicate regularly with stakeholders to maintain alignment on progress, expectations, timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and overall execution visibility.

Proactively identify gaps, blockers, risks, and delays, coordinate resolution with initiative owners, and escalate issues through appropriate SMO governance channels when needed.

Support continuous improvement of SMO processes, reporting cadence, portfolio management practices, governance routines, and execution assurance standards.

Key Deliverables/Outcomes:

Maintained strategic initiative portfolio tracker with current milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and escalations.

Integrated project plans, roadmaps, and governance cadences that support disciplined SLRP execution.

Standardized SMO templates, tools, dashboards, and governance materials that enable consistent initiative management.

Recurring portfolio health summaries, executive status updates, and decision-support materials.

Meeting agendas, pre-reads, minutes, decision logs, and action item trackers.

KPI dashboards and value realization reporting inputs that support leadership visibility and decision-making.

Documented execution risks, dependencies, and follow-up actions with clear ownership and escalation paths.

Success Metrics/KPIs:

Portfolio reporting and status updates are timely, accurate, complete, and decision-ready.

Initiative milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and action items are tracked consistently and kept current.

Executive materials are delivered on schedule, aligned to governance needs, and require minimal rework.

Initiative owners have clear expectations, tools, cadence, and visibility to support execution.

Action items and decisions are documented accurately, assigned clearly, and followed through to closure.

Execution risks, delays, and blockers are identified early and escalated appropriately.

Portfolio data is reliable, current, and usable for leadership review and value realization discussions.

Key Internal and External Stakeholders:

Internal: VP, SMO; Enterprise Transformation; Corporate Finance; functional leaders; SLRP initiative owners and stakeholders; project management teams.

External: Consulting and advisory partners, technology vendors, and other strategic partners as directed by the VP.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in project management, enterprise PMO, strategy execution, transformation, operations, management consulting, or strategic planning.

Experience supporting complex, cross-functional initiatives, including workplan development, milestone management, stakeholder coordination, governance support, and execution tracking.

Proficiency developing SMO reporting, dashboards, trackers, governance materials, and executive-ready presentations using tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.

Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, analytical thinking, and ability to translate complex information into clear updates, action plans, decisions, and reporting materials.

Sound judgment and ability to identify risks, blockers, dependencies, and execution gaps early, determine when intervention is needed, and escalate issues appropriately.

Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to maintain alignment across senior leaders, functional teams, initiative owners, and cross-functional workstreams.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment; healthcare, veterinary, multi-site operating environment, or transformation experience preferred.

Education / Certifications / Licensing:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, such as a master's degree in business, management, or related field, preferred.

Physical Demands of the Job:

Primarily sedentary work performed in an office or remote environment; may require occasional travel and prolonged periods of sitting, use of a computer, and standard office equipment.

Base Salary: $98,500-$130,000

Annual Incentive Plan: 10%
