Job description

TITLE: Development Manager

PAY RANGE: $50,000 - $75,000 per year

BENEFITS: This is a benefited position as outlined in the TMC Employee Handbook

REPORTS TO: Leadership Team

DEPARTMENT: Administration

Job Summary: Development Manager will manage The Miracles Club fundraising strategies from start to finish to build and maintain sustainable revenue. The Development Manager will identify the organizationโ€™s needs, The Development Manager will function as a capacity builder and storyteller of the organization through research, writing, and reporting, management of the donor database and timely donor acknowledgments, preparation of compelling documents and reports for funders.

Duties and Responsibilities:Development:

Discusses available sources of funding with administrative directors that support the mission and vision of TMC.

Compiles necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other staff, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.

Develops and maintains master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.

Maintain GuideStar profile with up-to-date information. Collaborate with the Marketing Department to update websites.

Develop proposals, budgets, and supplemental materials with support from other departments (program staff, leadership, finance)

Lead the preparation and development of foundation and proposals including all external and internal outreach and planning required and the drafting of the narrative, budget, and accompanying materials.

Post-award, ensure compliance with all administrative requirements, lead activities that see a grant through its full life cycle, including the execution of grant contracts, progress and final reports, and regular communication with institutional funders.

Maintain a grants calendar and manage all deadlines and workflows for LOIs, grant applications, and reports, including internal deadlines for collection of information from other staff ensuring on-time submission and high rate of successful funding requests.

Research and identify funding opportunities that are potentially a good fit for an organizationโ€™s programs and strategic growth.

Partner with program staff and leadership team to learn about emerging needs and opportunities and to translate those into a strong written narrative,

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Donor Relations and Fundraising

Research prospective donors.

Solicit sponsorship for annual conference or specials events.

Create a strong fundraising message that appeals to potential donors.

Use online platforms to raise donations.

Organize campaigns or events to solicit donations.

Implement direct mail appeals for Annual fund.

Develop donor acquisition or

Maintain records of donor information

Evaluate the success of previous fundraising events.

Establish fundraising plans to create:

Annual campaign fundraisers solicit donations once a year for their organization.

Capital campaign fundraisers raise money for a specific project, such as the construction of a new building.

Major-gifts fundraisers specialize in face-to-face interaction with donors who can give large amounts.

Planned-giving fundraisers solicit donations from those who are looking to pledge money at a future date or in installments over time. These fundraisers must have specialized training in taxes regarding gifts of stocks, bonds, charitable annuities, and real estate requests in a will.

Secure in-kind donations for various program needs (clothing closets, organizational events, etc.)

Participate in community-engagement activities, including tabling, networking events, community-based events, etc. to increase community awareness, tell TMC story, share resources and info, etc.

Work with Marketing Team to develop organizational materials, including Annual Report, quarterly newsletters, sponsorship packets, fundraising materials.

Maintain the integrity of donor and stakeholder information in Every Action database by:

Processing all gifts into the database, timely entering and updating of all donor and prospect information, including tracking grants, individual gifts, bequests, memorial gifts, corporate gifts, and sponsorships,

Acknowledging all gifts and pledges to within one weekโ€™s receipt of gift and/or pledge

Work with Marketing Team to prepare content fundraising materials such as concept papers, information packets, and brochures, and collaborate with marketing to ensure consistent, fundraising-centric messaging for all written and verbal communications,

Provide administrative support TMC including with preparing and disseminating solicitation materials, assisting with scheduling, planning, and the attending of events and program visits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred

Experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite required; previous experience in grant writing and/or fundraising, and desktop publishing is beneficial. Lived experience of mental health and/or addiction beneficial (preferred).

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Possess strong writing skills.

Have knowledge of fundraising techniques

Have skills to motivate and work with staff, board members, and volunteers.

Be outward thinking and have a desire to build relationships in the community.

Be a self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.

Be organized.

Display positive attitude and show compassion for those served, understanding of the community, demonstrate self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Demonstrated knowledge of human services/peer support program development and capacity building. Ability to network and collaborate with diverse groups of people who have varied skills and knowledge. Ability to read, analyze and interpret mental health and recovery periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations. Well-developed writing skills including the ability to write for publication, and to create reports, technical assistance guides, and educational and training materials. Ability to respond to questions from other community organizations, consumers, and the general public. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
