Job description

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

What You’ll Do

The Business Development Executive is a senior, revenue-focused role reporting directly to the Regional Vice President. This individual is responsible for driving new business growth, expanding market presence, and achieving regional sales objectives across the assigned territory.

This role is focused on new client acquisition, relationship development, and pipeline growth within the consulting engineering sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a hunter sales mindset by proactively pursuing new opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, and creating a pipeline of future work.
  • Drive new business development and client acquisition across public and private sector clients within the assigned region.
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline, consistently identifying, qualifying, and advancing new opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers including DOTs, aviation authorities, rail and transit agencies, federal, state, and local government, water/wastewater agencies, and private sector clients.
  • Execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
  • Lead client-facing meetings, presentations, and pursuit strategies to secure new work and cross-sell services.
  • Collaborate with technical and proposal teams to support pursuit execution and win strategies.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality proposals and pursuit materials, ensuring alignment with client needs and win strategies (final responsibility for quality and compliance).
  • Track and manage sales metrics, pipeline health, and revenue performance, reporting progress regularly to leadership.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and inform business development strategy.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand presence and generate leads.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during pursuit cycles for RFP/RFQ coordination and clarification management.
