About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Business Development Senior Lead to join the Business Development team within the Cards and Personal Loans organization. In this role, you will help identify, evaluate, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships that support growth, innovation, and competitive differentiation across the business. The position focuses on partnerships that enhance cardmember value propositions and business capabilities, including card benefits, rewards, loyalty, offers, fintech, digital experiences, and other strategic initiatives across the cards ecosystem.

Working across a highly matrixed organization, you will partner closely with teams across Product, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Technology to evaluate opportunities and advance complex initiatives from concept through launch. Success in this role requires strong commercial judgment, analytical rigor, relationship management skills, and the ability to influence decisions while balancing customer, financial, operational, and regulatory considerations. In this role, you will:

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize strategic partnership opportunities that support business growth, customer engagement, loyalty, and capability expansion objectives

  • Conduct market, competitive, client, and partner analysis to assess opportunities, identify emerging trends, and develop strategic proposals for business leaders

  • Develop business cases, financial models, executive presentations, and strategic assessments that support partnership investment and prioritization decisions

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define partnership objectives, assess solution alternatives, and evaluate strategic, operational, technology, legal, risk, and compliance implications

  • Support the structuring, negotiation, and execution of partnership agreements, including commercial terms, economics, governance frameworks, and implementation requirements

  • Lead cross-functional workstreams through diligence, approval, contracting, launch, and implementation activities while driving alignment across multiple stakeholder groups

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Strategy and Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of business development, strategic partnerships, corporate strategy, consulting, investment banking, or related experience supporting partnerships within payments, cards, lending, fintech, loyalty, travel, technology, or adjacent industries

  • Knowledge of the credit card ecosystem, including issuer economics, rewards and loyalty programs, payment networks, fintechs, merchants, travel providers, and technology partners

  • Demonstrated experience leading partnership opportunities end-to-end, including opportunity evaluation, business case development, financial modeling, negotiation support, implementation, and ongoing management

  • Strong understanding of partnership economics, customer value propositions, and key business and P&L drivers

  • Experience operating within a highly regulated financial services environment and navigating legal, compliance, risk, operational, and governance processes

  • Strong communication, executive presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across complex initiatives

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
