Job description

The Civil Foreman leads a team responsible for the installation of civil structures and earthwork activities while ensuring the safety of others and the quality assurance of the project. This is a hands-on position in the field. Must be willing to travel and be based on-site at any of our utility-scale solar or BESS sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organization, flexibility, customer focus, and strong communication are critical. Duties include:
  • Participate in daily safety meetings with subcontractors and clients.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and/or Construction Manager's morning meeting.
  • Follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Adhere to all company and industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure good housekeeping throughout the site.
  • Complete Safety Observation Cards (minimum 1 per day).
  • Verify all material deliveries, including counts and signing Material Transfer Forms (MTFs).
  • Follow proper safety procedures when using heavy and support equipment.
  • Maintain a positive company image with employees and customers.
  • Responsible for upkeep of all company-issued tools and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversight of field-level operators and laborers.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and ability to lead a team.
  • Maintain and submit accurate files, logs, pictures, and reports as required.
  • Work with superintendent to provide a 1-week look-ahead for planning.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and efficiency of daily scheduled work.
  • Ensure crews have resources and materials needed for tasks.
  • Coordinate permits (hot work, dig permits, etc.).
  • Mentor junior crew members.
  • Provide material requests to Civil Superintendent.
  • Ensure work meets environmental standards, specifications, and plan-set requirements.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years Civil Construction experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Civil Supervision experience preferred.
  • Solar experience highly preferred.
  • Journeyman Operator (license or verified experience).
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, and develop implementation plans.
  • Knowledge of installing basins, mass grading, excavation, stabilizing acreage, and maintaining site flow.
  • Experience completing JSAs and work permits.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated competence to perform required work.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Work performed in both office and field environments.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical labor required.
  • Travel and overnight stays required.
