Overview

Nurse Manager- Endoscopy/Pain Management/Special Procedures

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services, the Nurse Manager provides 24-hour clinical, operational, financial, and administrative leadership for the Endoscopy, Pain Management, and Special Procedures departments. Guided by the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Nurse Manager Competencies, the Nurse Manager is accountable for clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, operational performance, workforce engagement, and financial stewardship while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities

The Science

  • Provides clinical and operational leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.Ensures compliance with federal, state, accreditation, organizational, and professional standards.
  • Participates in the development, review, implementation, and evaluation of unit policies, procedures, competencies, and clinical standards.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and performance improvement methodologies to improve clinical and operational outcomes.

  • Builds collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Recruits, develops, mentors, coaches, and retains a high-performing workforce.
  • Promotes employee engagement, shared governance, professional development, and staff recognition.
  • Fosters effective communication, teamwork, and a culture of respect, accountability, and inclusion.

The Leader Within

  • Provides leadership and oversight for Assistant Nurse Managers, registered nurses, and ancillary personnel.
  • Models integrity, professionalism, accountability, and ethical leadership.
  • Leads change initiatives and supports innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develops future nursing leaders through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.

Business Skills

  • Manages unit budgets, staffing, scheduling, productivity, and resource utilization.Oversees supply management, equipment planning, capital requests, vendor relationships, and contract management.
  • Monitors operational, financial, quality, patient safety, and patient experience metrics to improve unit performance.
  • Promotes efficient patient flow, effective resource allocation, and fiscal stewardship.

Leading the Future

  • Aligns unit goals and performance with organizational strategic priorities, including Pathway to Excellence and Journey to Magnet initiatives.
  • Leads process improvement, technology adoption, and workflow redesign to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and the patient experience.
  • Strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration to support innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required or in progress. Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in perioperative or procedural services and critical care. Minimum two (2) years of progressive nursing leadership experience preferred. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. Proficiency with Epic, Microsoft Office, and healthcare information systems (e.g., Strata, Lawson, UKG). Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and work flexible hours based on operational needs
Pay RangeUSD $133,870.00 - USD $160,165.00 /Yr.Qualifications

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
