Job Summary

Newscape Studios, Inc has a dozen YouTube channels, with over 10 million total subscribers. We create content based on popular video games such as Fortnite, Minecraft, and original animations. Newscape also produces a vast array of videos for a young audience and content through animation and machinima.

We are looking to add Freelance Storyboard Artists to our team. Candidates must have substantial knowledge of Storyboard Pro and quick and strong draftmanship.
Note: The expectation for this role is a quick turn around of 3 days Thursday to Sunday afternoons.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Keep an organized and efficient workflow
  • Illustrate characters, text, and backgrounds
  • Storyboard episodes according to GameToons standards and production timelines
  • Delivery of completed storyboards by the scheduled due date. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Toon Boom Storyboard Pro. 
  • Fast, confident, and effective draftsmanship. 
  • Good understanding of film language and cinematography terminology, with the ability to interpret and work from provided shot lists and/or thumbnails
  • Ability to create clean, readable storyboards that clearly communicate: 
  • Character acting
  • Staging and composition 
  • Camera direction and movement 
  • Rough backgrounds and environmental context 
  • Maintain consistent character proportions and sizing according to provided model sheets 
  • Accurately incorporate and complete all notes and revisions provided by the Team Lead or Supervisor by the assigned deadline. 
  • Maintain an organized project file, including clear scene naming and clean layer structure. 
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining the speed necessary for a fast-paced production environment.
  • Storyboard Pro license is required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years required experience with Storyboard Pro
  • 1+ years of studio production experience
  • Ability to create clear readable boards for animation production
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Strong literacy with written, verbal and storyboard notes
  • Communicate effectively 
  • Great listening skills 
  • Great time management skills 
  • Comfortable in meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency  
 

Demo Reel/ Portfolio is required to be considered. 

Compensation:

Competitive base pay of: $550 per finalized storyboard (based on 13-18 page of script).

This is a remote / work from home, Independent Contractor Position.
