Job description

General Construction Inspector –Long Beach and Los Angeles Area

Keish Environmental is looking for an experienced, self-driven General Construction Inspector to support major infrastructure projects in Southern California for upcoming projects starting in the Spring/Summer of 2027. This mid-level role is a dynamic, field-based position ideal for candidates ready to lead detailed inspections across a variety of public and private projects.

This will be a prevailing wage job.

What You'll Do:
  • Independently inspect infrastructure projects to ensure construction aligns with plans, specs, and codes
  • Conduct daily site visits (95% field-based), attend meetings, and maintain detailed inspection records
  • Monitor stormwater (CGP), SWPPP/BMP compliance, and environmental controls
  • Review site safety practices, construction techniques, and schedule adherence
  • Perform and interpret field tests; verify materials and workmanship
  • Document findings, redline as-builts, and track all aspects of construction for compliance
  • Identify risks and propose sound engineering solutions in real-time
Minimum Requirements:
  • 4+ years of direct construction inspection experience on highways or public works projects
  • Strong knowledge of concrete, steel, earthwork, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Experience with Caltrans or other public infrastructure projects preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended field shifts as required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CPM software (Primavera, MS Project), and documentation tools
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered California Professional Engineer (PE)
  • QSP certification (CESSWI/CPESC a plus)
  • Experience in SWPPP/BMP compliance and stormwater inspections
  • Certifications from ACI, ICC, CMAA, or equivalent inspection bodies
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specs, estimates, and lab reports
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and reporting skills
