The Opportunity:


Our client is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Director of Operations & Procurement to lead both the day-to-day operations of a fabrication and supply business while overseeing the enterprise procurement function across a multi-branch organization.


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll be responsible for driving operational excellence across fabrication, warehouse, quality, safety, and logistics while developing procurement strategies that optimize supplier performance, inventory management, and cost efficiency. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of operations, manufacturing, and strategic sourcing.


What You'll Be Doing:


  • Provide executive leadership for fabrication, warehouse, logistics, and delivery operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
  • Lead production scheduling, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer demand and maximize operational performance.
  • Own the business unit's P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost management, and profitability.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs to ensure products meet applicable industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading health and safety programs, audits, incident management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives while negotiating national and regional supplier agreements across key material categories.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships, including managing critical vendor relationships, pricing strategies, rebate programs, and contract performance.
  • Lead procurement governance by establishing purchasing policies, approval frameworks, supplier standards, and branch purchasing controls.
  • Own ERP procurement and inventory management processes, including reorder strategies, inventory optimization, supplier integrations, and purchasing workflows.
  • Partner with branch leaders to provide procurement guidance, coaching, and support while ensuring compliance with purchasing policies.
  • Develop demand forecasts, monitor supply chain risks, and provide market intelligence to support business planning and informed sourcing decisions.
  • Establish and report on procurement and operational KPIs to drive continuous improvement across the organization.


What You'll Need to Be Successful:


  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial contracting, mechanical services, fire protection, or a related industry.
  • Proven experience leading fabrication, manufacturing, or prefabrication operations with full P&L accountability.
  • Strong background in strategic procurement, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and category management.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency, productivity, and supply chain performance.
  • Experience managing ERP systems, procurement processes, inventory planning, and production reporting.
  • Experience supporting a distributed purchasing model across multiple business locations is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial materials such as pipe, fittings, valves, mechanical components, or related products is preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and performance analysis.
  • Proven leadership in health, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professional supply chain or industry certifications are considered an asset.


Compensation Range: $100,000 - $125,000.
