Position Overview
The Storekeeper I position orders and maintains an adequate level of office supplies and forms, assists in the operation of the mailroom, print shop and storeroom and prepares print orders, prints forms and assists with special order printing. In addition, this position assists in preparing print orders and packages for shipment, prepares, logs and signs in overnight packages and certified mail, and prepares purchase orders for postage machine and other shipping accounts. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
  • Orders and maintains an adequate level of office supplies and forms.
  • Assists in the operation of the mailroom, print shop, and storeroom.
  • Prepares print orders, prints forms, and works with fiscal staff for printing of special orders.
  • Assists in preparing print orders and United Parcel packages for shipment; prepares, logs and signs in overnight packages and certified mail.
  • Prepares purchase orders for postage machine and other shipping (UPS, FedEx) accounts.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year of experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience incorporating storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience with purchase and requisition procedures.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience working with office methods, procedures, standard office machines and equipment.
  • Prefers working knowledge of transportation agencies and shipment methods.

Conditions of Employment
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S
  • Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
