Job description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Learn and develop a working knowledge of all store products (different vendors, special details pertinent to specific vendors, PLU codes, all product specifics like delivery pack size, weighted versus each item, etc.).
  • Maintain a working knowledge with the use of company software: RORC, Excel and all other software that the Company may use or may adopt in the future
  • Create, update, maintain all product files in the inventory software, this requires becoming an expert in all product classifications and categories such as but not limited to EBT, WIC, soda tax, employee discount enabled, etc. Updating files also include ensuring product costs, retail, and sales numbers and programs are always set up and entered correctly in the system and updates are always properly detailed in product cards.
  • Perform all system/vendor downloads and review them for price changes, errors, or custom overrides that management wishes to make.
  • Check in all incoming vendors during your shift, verify product against invoices/packing slips, confirm product integrity and check product temperatures as needed for quality, build positive rapport with vendors and direct the flow of traffic in and out of the backroom.
  • Process all invoices with the inventory software performing necessary updating steps, sign all invoices with your name (legibly) to verify invoices to be paid, and write the department on the invoice that accounting should use to match the department you coded to in the inventory system.
  • Follow up with departments to ensure all invoices are turned into accounting in a timely manner.
  • Process credits with delivery personnel and call in credits to vendors as needed.
  • Assist with delivery breakdown and product sorting so the shelves can be stocked quicker.
  • Assist with product stocking to shelves as needed.
  • Operate machinery including baler, compactor, and hand-jack in a safe and proper manner.
  • Update and assist co-workers in making signs and tags when needed, sort tags and hang as directed.
  • Always keep the backroom organized, clean, and efficient; this includes but is not limited to, making bails, managing U-boats, back stock, cleaning, supplies, returns,
  • and credits, etc.
  • Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors regarding pricing updates.
  • Setup and maintain retails on direct vendor items, including monthly price changes and promotions.
  • Work with the Store Director to ensure that all store products are being scan verified weekly and that any errors are fixed immediately and correctly.
  • Utilize electronic transmission processes to receive and process host communication and sort tags.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher) and other reporting systems.
    • Strong data entry skills with accuracy and efficiency.
    • Attention to detail to verify deliveries, inspect product quality, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
    • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced receiving environment.
    • Product knowledge of direct store delivery (DSD) items, including proper handling, storage, and rotation.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with vendors, customers, employees, and management.
    • Basic math skills.
      NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 
      • 1 year of retail experience preferred
      PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
      • Frequent lifting, pushing, carrying, and pulling of weights between 20-40lbs, with occasional lifting over 40 lbs.
      • Standing for extended periods of time (85% of the time), walking (10%), and sitting (5%).
      • Frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching above and below waist level.
      • Working in various temperature-controlled environments, including:
        • Freezers (extreme cold)
        • Receiving areas with occasional humidity or wet flooring
        • Outside temperatures (2% of the time)
      • Hard tile/cement flooring with anti-fatigue mats available.
      • Required: Slip-resistant footwear and various cleaning supplies.
      • Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used: Pallet Jack, Box Cutters, Baler.
