Job description

Our Mission

Expand human ambition in the physical world.

Critical infrastructure is constrained by labor shortages, hazardous working conditions, and operational complexity. Watney builds and deploys autonomous robotic systems that increase the speed and capacity of buildout, starting with data centers.

About the Role

As Inventory Manager at Watney Robotics, you'll own how we track, store, and move physical assets across our San Francisco lab and R&D facilities. By designing and maintaining systems that keep our hardware equipment accounted for and accessible, you will be a critical collaborator with fast-moving engineering and research teams building general-purpose robots for the world's largest enterprises.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and implement an organization system for all physical assets: tools, test equipment, prototyping parts, cables, transceivers, consumables, and general lab supplies.

  • Build and maintain a part-numbering and location scheme for inventory; establish clear bins, shelves, and zones across the facility.

  • Own the inventory management system of record.

  • Track calibration and maintenance schedules for tool equipment that requires it; flag items due for service.

  • Identify chronic shortages and work with the team to right-size stock levels.

  • Manage reorders for consumables, prototyping materials, cables, and office/lab supplies.

You May Be a Good Fit If You:
  • Have 5-10 years of experience running an inventory, lab warehouse, or storeroom operation (ideally in a hardware startup environment).

  • Are proficient with inventory management software and comfortable setting up a system from scratch.

  • Have strong organizational skills. For example, you enjoy building the labeling scheme, the bin system, and SOPs.

  • Are comfortable with physical work including being on the floor receiving, counting, moving, and organizing regularly.

We’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive team. At Watney Robotics, we welcome people of all backgrounds and identities, and we make hiring decisions based on skills, experience, and potential. If you’re passionate about robotics but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply!
