Supervises the daily activities of the inventory control staff. Ensures adequate levels of material and/or product inventories are maintained. Responsible for evaluating inventory needs and implementing strategies to meet t

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The incumbent may perform some or all of these duties however; it is not an exclusive or all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implements inventory management strategies to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer service, cost and profitability
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance management to develop and improve inventory management function
  • Manages and tracks product inventories, providing direction on work in process, finished goods and aged inventories to assure financial reconciliation and inventory integrity
  • Directs and prioritizes the daily activities including job packet review, cycle counts, audits, damaged material management, and waste tracking and disposal
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives for inventory management process and information flow
  • Prepares and reviews required business reports

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the purchase of raw materials and delivery of finished products
  • Ability to effectively manage the business relationship and transactions with the suppliers of raw materials or product components
  • Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
  • Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle
  • Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily works in a production and/or warehouse setting with time also spent in an office setting
  • Frequent walking and standing required
  • Occasional travel required
