Description:

Are you a self-starter, a real team player and have enthusiasm for making a store look great? Do you like to work in inventory and merchandising? Then this may be the job for you!


Summary of Position: The Store Support position is responsible for a variety of duties and is the support individual for the General Manager and Assistant Manager. The position will have a heavy focus on inventory, merchandising and shipping/receiving. They will be a backup to the cashier and/or hardware positions and will be cross trained in those areas. Store support role will be a right-hand person for special projects or tasks that are needed to ensure the proper working of the retail store.


Education & Experience: A HS diploma or GED is required. A 2-year college degree is preferred but skills and experience will also be considered. We prefer someone who has 1 to 3 years of prior retail and/or hardware experience. 

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions/Skills:

1. Provide excellent service and communication to customers, vendors and team members at all times.

2. Heavy focus on store inventory with cycle counts, overstock, special order organization, shipping/receiving, etc.

3. Knowledge of merchandising to price labels, create signage, work planograms, and building displays.

4. Support for general manager and assistant general manager for special store projects or tasks.

5. Cash register functions. This role is a backup for cashiering and includes beginning drawer through end of shift accountability and cash handling skills. 

6. This role is a backup for Hardware team member duties within the store including key making, cutting chain/rope/tubing/plexiglass and paint/stain mixing along with assisting customers find products in the store. 

7. Respond to customer telephone requests for assistance.

8. Must show initiative and willingness to ensure store cleanliness, stock product as needed, perform receiving/ordering duties and perform other duties, projects or tasks when asked or needed.


Work Environment: Typical day will be 8 hours (full time) or may be less if on a part time schedule, 5 or less days per week. Majority of the work is inside the store which is heated and air conditioned with occasional work requirement to be in the receiving room area which is heated but exposed to outside temperature variations.


Physical Requirements: Degree:  Medium work-lifting 25 pounds frequently and/or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Person must use hands for repetitive use such as using the cash register, computer and calculators 30-50% of the time. Must stand for long periods of time and will stock inventory 15% of the time. Typical requirements in an 8-hour day: A. Stand/Walk: 6-8 hours B. Frequently bend, stoop, squat 31-80% of the time.
