Job description

Position Overview
MetroSys is seeking an experienced Resident Storage Engineer to provide onsite operational and engineering support for a large-scale enterprise storage environment during a strategic migration from NetApp to Pure Storage FlashArray (Block and File).
This role serves as the primary technical resource supporting the client's transition, helping maintain operational stability while providing day-to-day administration, performance monitoring, optimization, and knowledge transfer. The ideal candidate has strong enterprise storage experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and enjoys working closely with customer engineering teams in a highly secure environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the onsite technical resource supporting the migration from NetApp to Pure Storage FlashArray.
  • Assist with daily administration and operational support of the storage environment.
  • Monitor storage health, availability, utilization, and capacity, proactively identifying potential issues.
  • Analyze storage performance and recommend optimization opportunities.
  • Support storage provisioning, volume management, snapshots, replication, and capacity planning.
  • Assist with upgrades, firmware updates, patches, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Troubleshoot storage hardware, software, and performance issues while coordinating with vendor support as needed.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities and operational health reviews.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes, including ticket management and documentation.
  • Assist with implementing recommendations from availability, capacity, and performance assessments.
  • Conduct storage configuration reviews and validate adherence to operational best practices.
  • Evaluate new Pure Storage features and functionality and assist with implementation planning.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation and standard operating procedures.
Customer Success & Advisory Responsibilities
  • Support customer staff throughout the transition to the new storage platform.
  • Provide technical guidance on day-to-day operations within the Pure Storage environment.
  • Recommend best practices for provisioning, storage management, and operational processes.
  • Assist customer teams with configuration reviews and optimization efforts.
  • Deliver informal knowledge transfer and mentoring to customer administrators.
  • Assess customer operational readiness and recommend additional training where appropriate.
  • Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure a successful production environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of enterprise storage engineering or storage administration experience.
  • Experience administering enterprise storage platforms such as:
    • Pure Storage FlashArray
    • NetApp
    • Dell EMC
    • HPE
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Block and file storage
    • SAN and NAS technologies
    • Fibre Channel
    • Storage networking
    • Capacity planning and performance tuning
  • Experience performing storage migrations or technology refresh projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across enterprise storage environments.
  • Experience working directly with customer operations teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance required.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite within a secure (Dark Site) environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pure Storage FlashArray administration experience.
  • Pure Storage certifications.
  • Experience migrating from NetApp to Pure Storage.
  • Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical government or defense environments.
  • ITIL or enterprise operational support experience.
