Job Description The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department (PRCR) mission is, "Together we connect and enrich our community through exceptional experiences." The PRCR Department plays a leading role in the quality of life and character of the Capital City. With nearly 10,000 acres of land, 220 parks, and 120 miles of greenway trails, the Department provides a wide range of facilities, amenities, and programs that support the social, cultural, mental, and physical well-being of citizens. The Department is guided by a comprehensive 20-year System Plan that identifies the overall vision of Bringing People to Parks and Parks to People

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is seeking candidates that have a passion for providing exceptional customer service and a commitment to serving others. The Event Logistic Specialist position will focus on providing exceptional experiences for our park patrons by supporting events throughout the City of Raleigh. This position will report to the Parks Engagement Special Operations team.

The Parks Engagement Special Operations Crew is responsible for supporting a variety events and programs for various City Departments in a variety of locations and venues. They are also responsible for completing specialty projects within our Destination Parks. The Destination Parks are made up of Dix Park, Pullen Park, Raleigh Rose Garden, and John Chavis Memorial Park.

Working within the special operations world, the team supports over 150 events that are throughout the City of Raleigh. This could be for an event that has 25 people attending to 50,000 people for a two-day music festival. Dix Park is a fun and fast paced environment in one of the newest parks in the City of Raleigh Parks system.

Dix Park consists of 308 acres and is currently in the developmental phase. Dix Park consists of the Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel, the Flower Cottage, and the Stone Houses and Historic Entry that serve as a rental event space and as the host to a variety of community events and programs throughout the year.

The recently opened Gipson Play Plaza is an inviting and inspiring public space for all ages with one-of-a-kind play spaces, works of art, a civic plaza, fountains, and gardens. Pullen Park, the first public park in North Carolina established in 1887, is the 5th oldest operating amusement park in the United States. Sitting on more than 66 rolling acres Pullen Park is comprised of several historic and popular destination sites.

The Raleigh Rose Garden boasts over 1200 roses and 60 varieties with hybrid teas, floribundas, grandifloras, miniatures, and antiques. It is a popular site for weddings and shares the property with the Raleigh Little Theatre and outdoor amphitheater. John Chavis Memorial Park, located in the heart of downtown, consists of a new central plaza with an integrated water feature, renovated former carousel house, and a large playground for a variety of ages and abilities.

The existing park amenities also include a historic Herschell carousel, baseball field, outdoor walking track with multipurpose field and 3 picnic shelters. Duties and Responsibilities This position requires night, and weekend work based on the schedule and needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Working with a crew of staff to set up and break down a variety of events.

Delivering, setting up and breakdown of a variety of infrastructure. Tents Tables Chairs Bleachers Generators Light Towers Portable Stages Trash Cans Assisting with inventory and maintenance of all event infrastructure. Assisting with inclement weather clean up within the City of Raleigh.

The ideal candidate will have experience in equipment such as pickup trucks, liftgate trucks, PUVs, and trailers. This position involves significant physical labor, including but not limited to, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, climbing, balancing, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds from ground level to the back of a pick-up truck.

Reporting Location: Dix Park - 1003 Richardson Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603 Work Schedule: Hours will be assigned based on the event schedule, this will include nights and weekends. Weekday events may take place between the hours of 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Weekend events may take place between the hours of 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Typical Qualifications Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Requirements: 6 months of relevant experience required. Valid North Carolina Class C driver's license is required.
