Job description

Job Summary:
StockX is the worldโ€™s leading marketplace for current culture, and they are seeking a Category Manager for Apparel to drive category growth within a new commerce initiative. This role requires deep cultural fluency in apparel, strategic ownership, and hands-on execution to enhance engagement and revenue.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Define and execute the growth strategy for apparel within the platform
โ€ข Own category-level performance across supply, engagement, and revenue
โ€ข Establish quarterly goals, leading indicators, and operating rhythms
โ€ข Maintain deep, current knowledge of apparel culture, including:
โ€ข Key sellers, creators, designers, brands, and retailers
โ€ข Sub-segments (streetwear, luxury, contemporary, vintage, performance, regional styles, etc.)
โ€ข Seasonal drops, brand dynamics, collaborations, and cultural moments
โ€ข Pricing dynamics, liquidity, and resale economics
โ€ข Serve as the internal voice of the apparel community, informing product, marketing, and platform decisions
โ€ข Build and own a pipeline of high-impact apparel sellers, shops, designers, influencers, brands, and creators
โ€ข Personally recruit and onboard flagship sellers who set the tone for the platform
โ€ข Develop seller strategies that balance credibility, storytelling, and commerce
โ€ข Identify and orchestrate Fashion & Apparel-specific moments, campaigns, and formats that drive engagement and conversion
โ€ข Partner with Category Marketing to design culturally authentic activations
โ€ข Experiment with new approaches and iterate quickly based on performance and feedback
โ€ข Work closely with Account and Partnerships Managers to scale seller acquisition and support
โ€ข Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape features and tools that matter to category sellers and buyers
โ€ข Provide clear, actionable insights from the market to influence roadmap prioritization
โ€ข Document learnings, frameworks, and best practices that can be reused across future categories
โ€ข Help define what โ€œgreatโ€ looks like for category ownership at StockX
โ€ข Support hiring and onboarding as the apparel category team grows
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Deeply embedded in second-hand fashion & apparel culture โ€” you know the people, platforms, trends, and economics, and youโ€™re already plugged into the ecosystem
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, brand, or operator roles in apparel, streetwear, fashion, or adjacent ecosystems
โ€ข Comfortable owning outcomes, not just strategy โ€” you execute, iterate, and adapt
โ€ข Strong relationship builder with credibility among sellers, creators, designers, and community members
โ€ข Data-literate and commercially minded โ€” you understand pricing, margins, liquidity, and incentives
โ€ข Entrepreneurial, scrappy, and energized by building something from the ground up
Preferred:
โ€ข Existing network of apparel resellers, brand operators, designers, boutiques, or creators
โ€ข Experience buying and selling apparel or operating within resale or fashion marketplaces
โ€ข Familiarity with content-driven commerce, creator platforms, or enthusiast communities
โ€ข Experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering teams
โ€ข Experience running your own business or startup
