Job description

Accountant

Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Impact Partner and employee‑owned organization, is seeking an Accountant to join its team. This role supports the Finance team through accurate financial recording, reconciliations, analysis, and reporting. The position performs a range of accounting tasks, from foundational to moderately complex, based on experience level. The accountant contributes to month‑end close, compliance activities, and financial reporting while building technical expertise and increasing independence. This position is ideal for candidates early in their accounting careers through those with several years of experience, offering opportunities for growth in responsibility, analytical capability, and business partnership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post routine to moderately complex journal entries for close activities, with supervision level aligned to experience
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; investigate variances and recommend or escape corrective actions
  • Assist in preparing and analyzing financial reports and communicating insights
  • Review and post commissionable orders and accurately record revenue
  • Support completion of all activities within the monthly close calendar
  • Assist with or perform fixed asset accounting, including depreciation
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and in accordance with GAAP
  • Support internal controls and compliance activities
  • Assist with audit activities by preparing documentation and schedules
  • Prepare or assist with sales and use tax filings
  • Provide day‑to‑day accounting support to cross‑functional teams
  • Participate in special projects and process improvements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum 1–4 years of accounting experience
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or project‑based environments preferred
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
  • ERP system experience preferred (IFS a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams
  • Customer‑service mindset with professional demeanor
  • Ability to research and resolve discrepancies
  • Sound judgment with appropriate escalation
  • Willingness to support peak workload periods
Physical Requirements

Ability to work extended hours at a computer as required during peak periods

Pay

Salary Range: $65,000 -$80,000 Potential Bonus: 5%
