Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and communication of all cargo transloading activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Formulate and gather all instructions and other information from customers, agents, surveyors, barge lines, etc. relating to the transloading of cargo.
  • Work closely with freight providers (vessel, barge, and truck) to assure efficient and effective execution of stevedoring operations.
  • Create a “Barge/Vessel Loading or Unloading Plan” and instructions needed to load/discharge.
  • Communicate with all relevant individuals/parties concerning the status of vessel operations.
  • Compose “Operational Job Progress Updates” for customers and their representatives (vessel agents and surveyors).
  • Work closely with Sales Department to share information relative to current vessels, customers, cargoes, and/or potential vessels, customers, and cargoes.
  • Keep open lines of communication with Operations to quickly resolve issues that may arise.
  • Input and maintain vessel schedules, Invoicing, Stowage Plans, and Crane Logs in Job Track.
  • Collect and update vessel information, dockage collection, and perform demurrage/dispatch calculations.
  • Ability to work extended hours 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays.
  • Occasionally be available to entertain customers (lunch, dinner, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Logistics experience in the stevedoring industry is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school or equivalent (preferred)

Occasionally, this position will be required to perform duties at various worksites including docks and mid-stream locations.
