Qualifications

Purpose & Scope:

Responsible for cleaning and decontaminating medical equipment and instrumentation; preparing sterile procedure trays and equipment; operating steam, low temperature sterilizers, and any other type of sterilization equipment used within CSP; maintaining sterile / clean storage/ and all other department areas; answering phone and service door; delivering requested items; completing all required documentation on activities; maintaining the standards of the organizations mission, goals, and safety behaviors; and assisting in other areas as requested. Participate in the training and in- service programs for staff, and students. Assumes responsibility and accountability at all times for quality performance, and represent the CSP department in a positive and professional manner at all times. Assume leadership responsibilities as needed, such as attending departmental meeting, leading department projects, and leading the departmental work flows as needed in absence of leadership presence.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Course completion from an accredited Central Service Technician training program is preferred.

Experience:

Six years of sterile processing experience is required.

Certification/Licensure:

Certification in Central Sterile Processing required.

Certification as Instrument Specialist (CIS) required.
