Job description

NOW HIRING: Full-time, part-time -- youth STEM (science, technology, engineering and
math) program teacher for children aged 4-14

Must possess technical knowledge of one or more of the following: Science,
technology, engineering, math, Minecraft, LEGO EV3 Robotics, Clickteam Fusion,
Microsoft KODU, Scratch, or other computer programming languages.
Engineering For Kids Portland Metro offers education programs introducing STEM
education to children aged 4-14. We strive to encourage the development of basic math
and science skills and expound upon the advanced topics encountered in
middle schools, like robotics and video game design. We work onsite at schools and
community centers all over the Beaverton, Portland, and Tigard areas. We offer
rewarding work, flexible hours, and pay commensurate with education and previous
work experience. We are currently in need of great instructors to teach classes
throughout the year! This is a good opportunity to build your resume.
BASIC INFORMATION:
Full-time position: Engineering For Kids teacher. Teachers at different schools in the
afternoon hold some management responsibilities such as program improvement,
teacher training, computer maintenance, inventory management, etc. Must have
an excellent work ethic, strong teaching experience, and a technology background.
Part-time position: teachers work anywhere between 4 and 20 hours per week
depending on their availability and current class schedules. Applicants for school-year
teachers must be able to perform one or more weekday afternoons between the hours of
2:00 and 6:00 and be able to maintain the same weekly schedule for the duration of the
classes. They must have their own transportation.
It can be a full-time position during the summer from June to August.
We provide internship opportunities for freshmen too
School year classes are Monday through Sunday, 1 - 2 hours per class (during the
summer, the timeframes will be different). The main weekday timeframes are 2 pm-6 pm.
We are looking for someone to work all school year long.
We provide training, all equipment, and all curriculum materials.
Knowledge of technologies, computer programming, computer science, robotics,
teaching experience, etc moves you to the head of the line.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience - Good at STEM and confident in doing STEM projects. A
Bachelor's degree and/or 2+ years of related work experience preferred.
Responsibility - Arrive on time for each session; be able to handle a group of 10 or
more children; make the lessons interactive, engaging, and fun; keep accurate
attendance; communicate well with the site director and staff.
Professionalism - Be neat in appearance; friendly and courteous with school staff and
director; self-assured.
Positive Attitude - Must enjoy working with young kids; be able to connect with kids;
be able to maintain a positive, fun environment where kids can develop their
imaginations and learning.
Patience - Must be a patient person who understands young kids.
Ability to clear a background check - A successful candidate must pass a CBR
Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and CPR Training.
Compensation: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
