Job description

The Hebrew Academy of The Five Towns and Rockaway is seeking an experienced grade 4-8 STEM Teacher to join our team. The STEM teacher's primary role will be to facilitate developmentally appropriate STEM learning activities, experiences and assessments to foster academic and social growth.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Teach 16 class periods a week in a variety of cohesive STEM courses (Coding, Engineering, Design Thinking, etc.) with 4th,5th, 6th, and 8th grade students
  • Coach our middle school Robotics team, with options to expand to HS or LS
  • Effectively collaborate with faculty to implement projects that infuse STEM into core subjects
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning space that is welcoming to multiple groups of students throughout the school day
  • Maintain equipment and lab inventory housed within the STEM Lab
  • Work with our STEM team to help integrate new modalities and interactives.
Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable with an inquiry based, hands-on PBL style classroom
  • Experience with some block based coding is a must. Language based coding, Arduino experience a plus
  • Passionate and dedicated to making STEM accessible and inclusive to students
  • Solutions-focused with strong communication and planning skills, a team player.
  • A graduate of a Master’s Degree in Education program in relevant content area preferred
