Machine Operator | Day Shift | $22.50/Hour

Tempel Steel is hiring a Machine Operator for our Chicago manufacturing facility. In this role, you'll operate equipment that produces precision components used in motors, generators, transformers, and other products that power industries around the world.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate production equipment using blueprints and work instructions.
  • Cut and fabricate aluminum extrusions to precise specifications.
  • Measure finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure quality.
  • Complete tooling changeovers and basic machine adjustments.
  • Inspect finished products and identify quality concerns.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and material issues to maintain production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings is a plus.
  • Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment is helpful.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 6S, or Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for an entire shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Reliable attendance and a positive, team-first attitude.
  • Background check required.

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing facility where you'll operate industrial equipment, use hand and power tools, and work around moving machinery. Safety is our top priority. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided, and employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and quality standards.
