Steel Specialty Inc. is seeking a skilled Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for reading shop drawings, laying out materials, fitting, and fabricating a wide variety of miscellaneous steel products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings.
  • Layout, fit, and fabricate miscellaneous steel assemblies.
  • Fabricate stairs, rails, ladders, roof frames, dumpster gates, and other miscellaneous steel products.
  • Perform fit-up prior to welding.
  • Verify dimensions and maintain quality throughout fabrication.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Work safely while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other shop personnel to meet production schedules.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies and communicate issues before fabrication.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, or moving fabricated materials as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of miscellaneous steel fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings.
  • Experience fabricating stairs, rails, ladders, and custom steel products.
  • Proficient using tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools.
  • Ability to safely operate standard fabrication equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Welding experience (FCAW, GMAW, or SMAW).
  • Experience in an AISC-certified fabrication shop.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience.
