Job description

Job Summary:
The Roll Machine Operator is responsible for lifting steel plates of various sizes using an overhead crane with various lifting clamps, hooks, and chains to position the plate into a CNC roll machine. The operator utilizes a control panel to operate the machine, which rolls the steel plate to flatten or shape it depending on the job requirements. The Roll Operator continually monitors the quality and flatness/shape of the product throughout the process.
Essential Functions:
  • Support all TTI/FSS Company and OSHA Safety Policies to ensure they are followed
  • Operate overhead crane to load, unload, and position plate on roll machine
  • Roll product within specified tolerance on drawings
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman or supervisor
  • Accurately document applicable job, product, and quality information utilizing computer and paper documents as required

Additional Duties:
  • Additional responsibilities or duties may be required as needed in support of company operations

  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications. Will ensure all established fabrication procedures are followed
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols

Teamwork
Teamwork is essential in this position and the Plate Roll Machine Operation must have a positive attitude and be able to work effectively with all departments, managers, and staff.
Actively participate in Safety meetings and promote company safety culture while working closely with the safety department.
Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty above average and always represent the company in a professional manner. The requirements listed are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of experience in steel and fabrication facility (preferred)

Language Skills
Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers, other departments, and managers.
Reporting
Reports to Facility Superintendent with a direct line of communication to the Prefabrication Manager.
