Job description

Max Manufacturing, one of Central Oregon's most skilled fab shops, is searching for an experienced Structural Steel Detailer with strong 3D drafting experience to join their team. This role involves producing accurate 3D models, shop drawings, and erection drawings to support the fabrication and installation of structural steel projects. The position requires close coordination with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure quality, accuracy and constructability.ย 

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 3D models, shop drawings, and erection drawings for structural steel
  • Interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings and specificationsย 
  • Develop steel connection details in accordance with applicable codes and standardsย 
  • Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, and contractors to resolve design issues
  • Update drawings based on RFI's, revisions, and site feedbackย 
  • Prepare material lists and fabrication-ready documentationย 
  • Maintain organized drawing files and project recordsย 
  • Provide technical support to fabrication and erection teamsย 

Qualifications & Experience ย 

  • Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of 3D drafting experience in structural steel detailingย 
  • Knowledge of detailing and fabrication standards (AISC, AWS, ASTM, EN or equivalent)ย 
  • Experience producing steel shop and erection drawingsย 
  • Experience with commercial, industrial or complex steel structuresย 
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processย 
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawingsย 
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and coordination abilitiesย ย 

Software Skillsย 

  • Proficiency in Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, AutoCAD 3D, or similar softwareย 
  • Experience with 3D modeling, drawing extraction, and clash detectionย 
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office or equivalent toolsย
