Job description

Job Title: Welder and Fitter

Job Description

This role focuses on structural welding and fitting to build large steel cell towers up to 400 feet high. You will perform MIG and flux core welding, layout and mark weld points, and complete final and multi-pass welds on structural steel components while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble large structural steel cell towers up to 400 feet high using welding and fitting techniques.
  • Fit components and complete final welds and multi-pass welds to meet structural and quality specifications.
  • Perform MIG and flux core welding on structural steel according to work orders and project requirements.
  • Lay out and mark weld points on steel structures based on blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, layouts, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and best practices in the welding and fabrication area.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly handle tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Collaborate with team members on the second shift to meet production goals and timelines.

Essential Skills

  • 1–3+ years of experience in welding and fitting, with 2 years of welding experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in flux core welding on structural steel.
  • Proficiency in metal core welding processes.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layouts, schematics, and work orders.
  • Ability to perform accurate layout and marking of weld points on structural steel.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to safety rules and practices in a welding environment.
  • Ability to work effectively on a second shift schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with large structural steel components is beneficial.
  • Prior experience building or assembling towers or similar large structures is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fits.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.
  • Reliability and consistency in meeting shift schedules and production targets.

Work Environment

You will work around welding equipment, structural steel components, and standard fabrication tools in an industrial setting that requires adherence to safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a welding and fabrication environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
