We are searching for a Technical Accounting Specialist to join a fast-paced, high-impact environment, offering a truly exciting opportunity to operate at the forefront of complex, deal-driven decision-making. In this role, you'll leverage your deep IFRS expertise and strong commercial understanding of commodity markets to shape outcomes from the very start, partnering with senior stakeholders to influence transactions before execution. You'll act as a trusted advisor to the Marketing business, driving critical accounting insights, enabling strategic decisions, ensuring consistent & compliant financial outcomes. You'll also play a key role in leading change, supporting the implementation of new accounting policies across systems and processes, while contributing to high-profile group and statutory reporting. This is a unique chance to combine technical excellence with real business impact in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Core Responsibilities (amongst others):ย  ย 

  • Lead technical accounting expert for the marketing finance function, providing guidance to all the finance teams and business teams.
  • Review proposed commercial transactions to identify and present the accounting impact, particularly in relation to Marketing's KPIs.
  • Where relevant, provide clear explanations to non-finance stakeholders about the range of possible accounting outcomes and the commercial/legal drivers which impact the accounting.
  • Research, prepare and review documentation to support accounting positions adopted by Marketing.
  • Coordinates and key liaison with Group Finance and external auditors on all technical accounting matters
  • Prepare and review interim and year-end Group reporting submissions for compliance with IFRS and Group Finance Internal Policies.
  • Engage with Group Finance to ensure that accounting policies are appropriate for Marketing
  • Manage the preparation of statutory accounts for Marketing entities, including collaboration with Financial Reporting and Global Shared Services teams.
  • Review or prepare statutory financial statements for Marketing entities to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong academic background in Business or Finance, degree educated, with a professional qualification such as CA, ACA, or CPA.
  • Proven experience in a Technical Accounting or Financial Reporting role, with strong exposure to IFRS frameworks and regulatory environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, particularly derivative and hedge accounting, and IFRS 15 (Revenue), ideally within a commodities-focused business.
  • Solid commercial acumen, with experience in commodities, including exposure to marketing, trading, and logistics, and an understanding of transaction drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead consolidation processes, alongside strong communication and presentation skills, and a solid grounding in governance, compliance, and risk management.
