Job description

Lakeland University, a NCAA Division III member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in Plymouth, Wisconsin, is seeking an individual for the position of Sports Information Graduate Assistant. The position is a 12-month appointment for two years, beginning in August 2026.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
All Lakeland University staff members are expected to:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A successful candidate will assist the Sports Information Director with coverage, promotion, and publicity of Lakeland's varsity sports.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Keeping in-game statistics
  • Producing publications including game programs and brochures
  • Writing press releases, games stories, and game previews
  • Managing content of Lakeland's athletics website
  • Producing video and graphic content, including highlight videos and interviews
  • Assisting in management of Lakeland's athletics social media accounts

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree and acceptance into the Lakeland University graduate school program are required.
  • Experience in journalism, public relations or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to assist in game day operations at many of Lakeland's home events, which includes nights, weekends.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record for some travel required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated significant sports knowledge;
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) along with strong editing capabilities;
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products;
  • Experience in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop;
  • Previous use of Stat Crew and/or NCAA Live Stats statistical software is preferred;
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Aid in managing student staff.

  • Little to no physical activity is part of the position.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
