Job description

R&D Technician

A leading electronics testing company is seeking an R&D Technician to support custom manufacturing operations through order management, workflow development, CAD design, metrology support, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as a critical link between engineering and production, ensuring manufacturable solutions, accurate measurement systems, and efficient manufacturing processes.

R&D Technician Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prioritize non-standard manufacturing orders, communicate status updates, define production requirements, and maintain ownership of delivery timelines from initiation through completion.
  • Design and generate photomask layouts using 2D and 3D CAD systems while applying engineering judgment and established manufacturing guidelines.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize measurement routines across multiple metrology platforms, analyze inspection data, and provide manufacturability recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Train production operators, support manufacturing floor activities, and troubleshoot process, equipment, and production issues to ensure quality and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives through data collection, statistical analysis, process documentation, process control, and implementation of manufacturing best practices.

R&D Technician Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (AA/AS), technical certification, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, semiconductor, PCB, photochemical machining, or related technical environment.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX CAD software and experience creating or modifying technical designs and layouts.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and practical metrology principles.
  • Experience using vision and metrology equipment such as Keyence, Nikon, OGP, Zygo, or similar measurement systems.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), manufacturing statistics, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of process control principles and basic chemistry within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret measurement data and provide actionable recommendations.

Shift:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
