Job description

The Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced world of private equity, specifically within the innovative Secondaries and Primaries market. You will gain hands-on experience in applying data science and artificial intelligence techniques to real-world financial problems, contributing directly to the team's success.
Joining the Secondaries & Primaries team at Ardian, the Data Scientist will leverage analytical skills to support investment strategies and decision-making processes. You will be part of an already established fast-growing data science team entirely dedicated to the Secondaries & Primaries activity.
This role involves working closely with the investment team, applying data science methodologies to optimize investment models, analyze market trends, and enhance data-driven insights for the Secondaries and Primaries markets. You will work on both established datasets and the structuring of new data sources, in close collaboration with our data engineering team.
Current projects include, but are not limited to:
  • Portfolio-level analytics: fund and company performance modeling, GP benchmarking through development of proprietary machine learning models
  • AI integration into day-to-day team workflows, including pricing and other deal-related aspects
  • Market intelligence: identifying trends in private equity markets
  • Deal execution: data-driven screening of opportunities, valuation support
  • Risk assessment: scenario modeling for fund investments
  • Support responses to LP analytics and data-driven requests

Core Technical Skills
  • Programming languages & technical stack (SQL, Python, R, GitHub, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Machine learning & AI (predictive modeling, generative AI, NLP) - Experience in developing AI tools and agentic workflows is advantageous
  • Statistical analysis & econometrics
  • Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)

Business & Investment Skills
