Job Summary Th e Statistician supports the Client a portfolio of large-scale statewide programs at the intersection of advanced analytics, applied education research, and emerging AI/ML technologies. This role involves analyzing heterogeneous datasets from statewide systems such as CLI Engage and TECPDS, generating policy-relevant insights, and collaborating with state and local education agencies. The position requires expertise in statistical modeling, data engineering, and applied machine learning, with a focus on producing actionable findings that inform early childhood workforce development and child outcomes across Texas. Key Responsibilities Le ad statistical analyses including multilevel modeling, growth modeling, psychometrics, IRT, SEM, latent variable approaches, and classification methods Work with large, multi-source datasets requiring statistical sophistication and strong data engineering instincts Translate findings into dashboards, interactive reports, and graphical summaries for state partners and policymakers Engage with AI/ML workflows including predictive modeling, NLP, automation of reporting, and generative AI applications Support recurring reporting (annual, quarterly, weekly, near-real-time) with reproducible analytic workflows Maintain and adapt SAS pipelines while also leveraging R and Python for new analyses Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders to ensure methodological rigor and policy relevance Contribute to scholarly and technical products including peer-reviewed publications, grant applications, technical reports, Shiny apps, and GitHu b tools Required Qualifications Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, informatics, engineering, or related field Minimum of 3 years enterprise experience as a data scientist, statistician, or analyst across multiple projects Proficiency in SAS, R, and Python for statistical analysis and data pipelines Experience with large, heterogeneous datasets and diverse data formats (relational databases, XML, JSON, CSV, text, sensors, social media, geolocation) Strong communication skills to explain methods, rationale, and statistical validity to technical and non-technical audienc es Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) Experience with AI/ML methods applied to research and analytics Background in education research or workforce analytics Physical Requirements Ability to exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and negligible amounts constantly to move objects Education: High School
