Job description

Position Description:

The Shipping Coordinator works with the Shipping clerk to ensure Scheduling and Sales is informed of requirements and what orders are available to ship and works with Traffic and external shipping vendors to arrange transportation to maximize shipping throughout the order process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Attend all scheduled safety, department, and company meetings as required

  • Follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices at all times to ensure safety of self and others

  • Communicates with Allocations/Scheduler to indicate trailer availability

  • Communicates with Traffic, customers and warehouse supervisors to schedule pickups and trailer drop offs.

  • Produces Shipping Schedule based on truckload quantities of inventory, production and trailer availability.

  • Ensures accuracy of inventory by following procedures for material movement and proper documentation of any movement.

  • Confirms order paperwork including mill test reports and ensures order meets customer requirements or any special instructions. Reports discrepancies to the Shipping Supervisor and advise scheduling and sales of any change in ship date. Reports on-going or potential quality issues to the supervisor or facility manager.

  • Ensures the accuracy of inventory by following procedures for material movement and proper documentation of any movements.

  • Participates in improving processes.

  • Conducts self in a cooperative, safe, productive and team-oriented manner with supervisors, managers and employees.

What are the requirements?

  • Valid driver’s license
  • 18+ years old
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic literacy for reading instructions and using hand tools
  • Basic computer skills

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting pay of $22.00 to $23.00 per hour.
