Position Summary

The Fleet Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of Ace Distributing's fleet. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a range of company vehicles and equipment.

Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, the Fleet Mechanic supports daily operations by minimizing downtime, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, and ensuring all equipment is operating safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in their work, values safety, and demonstrates strong ownership of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. 
  • Prepare Vehicles for Compliance: Ensure all vehicles meet state inspection and emissions requirements and are maintained in accordance with regulatory standards. 
  • Diagnose Mechanical Issues: Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and complete timely, effective repairs. 
  • Maintain Service Records: Accurately track maintenance schedules, service intervals, and repair history for each vehicle. 
  • Support Fleet Operations: Perform road calls and emergency repairs as needed to minimize operational disruptions. 
  • Monitor Parts & Inventory: Track parts usage, review invoices, and maintain appropriate inventory levels for maintenance needs. 
  • Conduct Equipment Checks: Perform routine fluid checks and general inspections to proactively identify potential issues. 
  • Maintain Work Environment: Keep shop, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in safe working condition. 
  • Follow Safety Standards: Operate all tools and equipment in a safe and compliant manner and immediately report any safety incidents, accidents, or injuries. 
  • Represent the Company Professionally: Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with internal teams and external partners. 


Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant mechanical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Valid driver's license meeting company insurance requirements 
  • Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including CDL Class A, B, and C vehicles, forklifts, and pallet jacks 
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair across multiple vehicle types 
  • State inspection and emissions certification preferred 
  • Knowledge of hydraulic lift gate systems and repair preferred 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently

  • This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to perform duties without impairment and in a manner that does not pose a risk to the employee or others 
  • Regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work overtime as needed are essential functions of this role 
  • Work environment includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions, mechanical hazards, fumes, and physical labor 
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to: 
  • 30 lbs regularly 
  • 35-50 lbs frequently 
  • Up to 170 lbs occasionally 
  • This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hands and tools for extended periods 
  • This role is on-site/in-person and not eligible for remote work
