Summary:

FET Variperm is class leading in service and supply, specializing in sand control engineering, completion and work-over tools and cased hole fishing services. And that’s what we do: our customized sand control solutions allow us to respond quickly to the ever-changing variability of our customers’ vertical and horizontal well operations.

The (Blade) Machine Operator is responsible for set up and the operation of semi-automatic CNC grinding equipment, for the purpose of blade sharpening. Assisting with the controlling and maintenance of the blade inventory including ensuring a minimum inventory is maintained. Performing quality checks and ensures applicable documentation is filled out accurately as needed. Performing routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting as needed. This position requires distribution of saw blades to manufacturing operations, as well as forklift and overhead crane use. Shifts may involve various shifts and overtime hours depending on the scope of work and plant activity. Adherence to all company policies and processes as well as active participation in FET’s Health, Safety and Environment program is required. Additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and operate CNC grinding equipment as required for the purposes of blade sharpening.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on sharpening machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Promptly and accurately complete all documentation.
  • Assist with controlling and maintaining slotting blade inventories.
  • Assist with controlling and maintaining parts and tools inventories and department consumables.
  • Assist production with other tasks as required.
  • Work within and promote the HSE policies and practices of the Company
  • Work within the Company’s QMS policies and practices and where appropriate, recommend improvements

Skills/Knowledge

  • Good English comprehension, verbal and written.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Understanding of working load limits
  • Understanding of basic rigging and lifting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Prior experience operating CNC machinery considered an asset.
