Position Summary

The Fertigation Technician works in conjunction with the Fertigation Lead to oversee and implement all irrigation and fertigation activities across the entire grow. The Fertigation Technician may also be required to work in the garden with Cultivation Technicians and perform similar duties, as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The essential functions of the Fertigation Technician include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Check and balance EC & pH of stock tanks according to company standard operations procedures (SOPs).
  • Clean and sanitize nutrient tanks, pumps, and filters as needed.
  • Maintain and ensure Irrigation and Fertigation equipment is in good working order.
  • Comply with company and product label safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Take nutrient samples to be sent out for analysis.
  • Maintain and ensure proper storage and sanitation of all tools and equipment, including but not limited to shop vacs, pumps, hoses, carts, scissors, stools, totes, gloves, rags, and PPE gear.
  • Meticulous record keeping of all nutrient use.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure the irrigation/fertigation plan is properly implemented and maintained.
  • Maintain inventory of all fertilizers on site.
  • Ensure fertilizer concentrate tanks are filled adequately.
  • Respond to system alarms and diagnose/troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively.
  • Perform regular calibration of nutrient testing instruments.
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of general irrigation equipment: valves, emitters, drip stakes, drip tubing, and bench lines.
  • Monitor soil moisture content of the crop and obtain water samples for testing.
  • Installing trellis in newly populated rooms in a timely manner to stay on schedule with cultivation staff and plant growth.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Requirements

  • No experience required however 6 months experience in regulated cannabis cultivation is preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Familiar with Dosatron/injection nutrient systems.
  • Familiar with split shifts to perform sanitization procedures after hours.

Work Environment

  • Close visual focus required.
  • This position requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects.
  • Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE
  • Exposure to allergens and chemical pesticides in the grow facility or greenhouse
  • Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water
