Job description

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

We are seeking a dedicated and self-starting Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team in a school-based setting for the 2026-2027 School Year. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students' communication needs, implement therapy plans, and collaborate with educators and families to promote student success.

This is a part-time (20-25 hours weekly), 9 month position. The hourly rate starts at $26.65 and may increase depending on experience and education level.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide speech and language therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with student goals.
  • Support student progress by collecting data and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and parents to support classroom communication strategies.
  • Prepare therapy materials and adapt activities to meet diverse student needs.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain compliance with state and district policies, as well as ethical and professional standards.

  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Stargate Policies and building and department procedures.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of district/school technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment within two months of entering the position.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, e-mail, etc.

Requirements:

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program.
  • Current SLPA license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of practice.
  • Certification: Speech Language Pathology Assistants Certification (C-SLPA) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Experience:

  • Experience working as a speech/language specialist in a public school setting preferred, but not required.
  • Experience and/or training in providing direct intervention for students identified as Twice Exceptional, either as a Service Provider or as an integrated Service Provider to other special education programs.
  • Experience in student assessment, data collection and report interpretation.
  • Desirable Attributes: Compassionate, patient-focused, and adaptable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
