Job description

  • Design and develop utility substation Protection & Control engineering design packages
  • Develop protective relaying and communications systems packages, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring/connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
  • Develop SCADA packages, including input/output lists (Point Data Sheets)
  • Coordinate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other groups to ensure design concurrence
  • Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and less experienced engineers
  • Maintain trusted relationships with current or prospective clients
  • Present technical solutions to key customers and respond to technical concerns and questions
  • Participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
  • Perform assignments independently with general direction and guidance from the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on unusual or complex projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus
  • An MS Degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the BS Engineering degree
  • International Engineering Degrees will be considered
  • 3+ years of experience developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages
  • Experience with AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications, and bills of material
  • Fundaments of Engineering (FE) License
  • Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Desire for continuing education and licenses
  • Physical design experience in addition to Protection & Control (P&C) experience is a plus
