MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Acoustic, or Software preferred)
  • 3+ years' experience with test development in a manufacturing environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Acoustic test experience is a plus

ABOUT THE JOB!
This position is responsible for the creation, maintenance, development, and support of production test equipment, procedures, and software for Gentex-manufactured products for the Situational Awareness Value Stream.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain electrical and acoustic test fixtures and software operating on Audio Precision, National Instruments (LabView and TestStand) and Listen Inc. platforms.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing test limits based on performance specifications and/or statistical analysis of manufacturing data
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers for development or support of production test fixtures, software, and equipment
  • Transition new test equipment and process into production; either in-house or at a contract manufacturer's facility
  • Implement and maintain test databases and generate report queries to adequately track manufacturing yield
  • Create, develop and maintain production test process and instructions
  • Create test plans, coordinate and carry out testing, analyze data, and generate engineering/qualification reports
  • Support production with failure analysis of printed circuit boards, product assemblies, test fixtures, and test equipment
  • Participate in New Product Development to provide design input and guidance for manufacturability and testability of components and products
  • Train personnel on product testing, equipment repair, and maintenance as required
  • Report regularly on project status and progress, especially noting variance from baseline projections
  • Ability to develop and/ or maintain MatLab or Labview based test applications for a production environment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Electronics and product testing methods
    • Debug and troubleshooting of electronic systems
    • MatLab and LabView software development platforms; TestStand development is a plus
    • Database query and build for test data management and report generation a plus
    • Manufacturing test limit generation and alignment to product performance
  • Capable of soldering and basic mechanical skills for assembly and maintenance of test fixtures
  • Good oral & written communication skills
  • Team focused with the ability to participate in cross-functional teams
  • Basic understanding of metrology techniques and interpretation of mechanical drawings
  • Basic knowledge with Process Control tools, and statistical analysis techniques. Gage R&R or similar Measurement System Analysis experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Quality Management System standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 preferred
