Job description

The Quality Engineer supports Standard Nuclear's quality management system by ensuring manufacturing processes, materials, and products meet internal and regulatory quality standards. This role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to implement quality controls, investigate nonconformances, and drive continuous improvement across production operations.ย 

This is a hands-on engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment. The Quality Engineer supports inspection and verification activities while leading root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements to strengthen product quality and operational reliability. The role contributes toย maintainingย compliance with NQA-1 and other applicable regulatory and industry quality standards while helping scale manufacturing operations safely and efficiently.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIESย ย 

Quality Engineering & Process Improvementย 

  • Develop and implement quality controls to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet product specifications and regulatory requirements.ย 
  • Lead root cause investigations for nonconformances, process deviations, and quality events.ย 
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness.ย 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen manufacturing quality, reliability, and efficiency.ย 
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve processes, documentation, and inspection methods.ย 
  • Support new product introduction and process development by integrating quality requirements into production workflows.ย 

Inspection & Verificationย 

  • Support receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and assemblies.ย 
  • Verify that manufacturing work is performedย in accordance withย approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.ย 
  • Review inspection results and evaluate nonconformances for disposition.ย 
  • Support calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and measuring equipment.ย 

Supplier Quality & Material Verificationย 

  • Assistย with supplier quality activities including review of material certifications, inspection reports, and supplier documentation.ย 
  • Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and corrective action activities.ย 
  • Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams to ensure supplied materials meet technical and quality requirements.ย 

Quality Systems & Documentationย 

  • Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and traceabilityย in accordance withย company procedures and regulatory requirements.ย 
  • Support document control programs and ensure procedures, forms, and work instructionsย remainย current.ย 
  • Assistย with development and improvement of quality procedures and manufacturing documentation.ย 

Audits & Regulatory Complianceย 

  • Support internal audits, external audits, and quality system assessments.ย 
  • Participate in corrective action reviews and follow-up verification.ย 
  • Helpย maintainย compliance with NQA-1 quality requirements and applicable DOE and NRC regulatory frameworks.ย 
  • Support audit readiness and quality program implementation as manufacturing operations scale.ย 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSย ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.ย 
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering within an industrial or regulated manufacturing environment.ย 
  • Experience working with quality systems such as NQA-1, ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar regulated standards.ย 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.ย 
  • Experience performing root cause analysis using structured methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or similar tools.ย 
  • Hands-on experience with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other measurement equipment.ย 
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.ย 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams.ย 
  • Experience working in nuclear, aerospace, defense, energy, or other regulated industries is a plus.ย
