What you will do to contribute to the company's success

  • Helps the Division Engineering Manager/Director develop and implement engineering plans consistent with Cable One strategies, standards, and policies.

  • Define best possible route and perform staking for fiber and HFC aerial and underground projects in accordance with required construction specifications and or RUS practices. Prepare staking sheets, CAD and construction drawings, and all permits required for each staking project.

  • Supports the systems' build and maintenance efforts in support of the Fiber, HFC network and the video, high-speed data, and voice products in the systems assigned.
  • Supports all facets of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance of the systems assigned. Provides support to local technical departments when needed.

  • Provides advanced "hands on" assistance and support in all aspects of head-end operations. Helps the Engineering Manager/Director create and maintain engineering plans and strategies consistent with Cable One goals.

  • Support the local technical system staff in launches of new technical projects and initiatives.

  • Supports and offers knowledge and experience on an advanced level to the Technical Operations Managers and local technical system staff in supporting new build activity.

  • Helps system staff create CIRs, ROs, and other required tasks needed to support capital projects, and provide guidance on proper methods for capital project financial control, inventory procedures, quality control, and overall project management when necessary.

  • Provides expert level guidance to system technicians on the use of network performance monitoring and surveillance tools to help them maintain and troubleshoot the overall operation of the video, data, and voice networks.

  • Assists the Engineering Manager/Director in monitoring system CMTS utilization and performance.

  • Helps plan and implement the CMTS and physical system plant work necessary to keep within CMTS utilization expectations set forth by the SVP & Chief Network Officer.

  • Ensures the cable system consistently operates within the technical rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission, Manufacturer's specifications, and Cable One engineering standards.

  • Assists in completing required system and head-end testing and monitoring of systems to ensure compliance with all FCC requirements.

  • Mentors and cross-trains Regional Engineer I team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university; and a minimum of ten-years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Outside plant design, construction, or Geospatial information systems experience preferred

  • Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Ability to effectively problem-solve complicated issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate information.
