Join a Growing Utility Design Team!
We are seeking a Power and Communications Staking & Design Assistant to support electric distribution and telecommunications projects in the Durango area. This position works closely with engineering teams to assist with field data collection, staking, drafting, and the preparation of construction drawings and material lists for overhead and underground utility infrastructure.
What You'll Do:
  • Support field staking and data collection efforts
  • Prepare construction drawings and material lists
  • Utilize staking and design software, including NISC, MicroStation, and GIS systems
  • Assist with overhead and underground power distribution and fiber design projects
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation
  • Perform fieldwork in varying terrain and weather conditions
  • Support engineering and construction teams throughout project development
  • Help ensure project accuracy and quality standards are met

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, Surveying, or a related field OR
  • Associate's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience OR
  • 4+ years of utility design or construction support experience
  • Ability to learn and utilize NISC, MicroStation, and GIS-based systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physical fieldwork as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Partner, SpidaCalc, Alden One, Katapult, IKE, O-Calc, or Pole Foreman
  • Familiarity with NESC and OSHA standards
  • Experience working with electric cooperatives, utility companies, or telecommunications providers
