Job Description
Material Handler I Position Summary
The Material Handler I is responsible for supporting production operations through the safe movement, storage, staging, and handling of raw materials and finished goods. This role plays a critical part in maintaining material flow throughout the facility to ensure efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating stand-up electric forklifts in a manufacturing or production environment and be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate stand-up electric forklifts to transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Review and monitor production supplies, including stretch wrap, boxes, trays, colorant, pallets, and other materials.
  • Ensure production machines have sufficient material and colorant to support continuous operation.
  • Remove completed pallets and finished products from production lines.
  • Stretch wrap, label, and stage finished pallets for storage or shipment.
  • Utilize pallet jacks and material handling equipment as needed.
  • Move finished goods to designated hold or staging locations using RF scanning equipment.
  • Inspect forklifts before use and complete required equipment inspections.
  • Maintain forklift charging and equalization procedures for electric equipment.
  • Transport scrap materials to designated recycling or grinding areas.
  • Assist with material changes, color changes, and production preparation activities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including removal of cardboard, pallets, and production waste.
  • Support inventory accuracy and material tracking activities.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience operating stand-up electric forklifts strongly preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of manufacturing, production, warehouse, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials throughout the shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing or plastics production experience.
  • RF scanner experience.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
