Job description

US Trades is seeking a dependable Flagger/Rigger Helper to work alongside the MAGNI Operator and support daily lifting and material-handling activities. This position will help ensure that loads are properly prepared, controlled, and moved safely and efficiently throughout the project site.

The Flagger/Rigger Helper will provide clear signals and directions to the MAGNI Operator, help maintain safe lifting areas, and assist with staging materials before each lift. When not supporting MAGNI operations, this individual will work with the Logistics Team to move, organize, and stage materials throughout the site.

This is a physically active position requiring the employee to remain on their feet for most or all of the workday.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the MAGNI Operator during lifting and material-placement activities.
  • Serve as a flagger, spotter, and signal person while equipment is moving or lifting loads.
  • Provide clear and consistent hand signals or radio communication to the operator.
  • Assist with inspecting, selecting, and attaching rigging equipment under proper supervision.
  • Help secure and control loads using taglines and other approved equipment.
  • Confirm that lifting paths and landing areas are clear of personnel, equipment, and obstructions.
  • Establish and maintain safe work zones around active lifting operations.
  • Watch for overhead hazards, pinch points, changing site conditions, and other potential safety concerns.
  • Stop work immediately if an unsafe condition develops.
  • Assist with staging materials before MAGNI lifts.
  • Help guide materials into their proper location while maintaining safe body positioning.
  • Support the Logistics Team with moving, sorting, organizing, and distributing materials throughout the site.
  • Keep storage, laydown, and material-staging areas clean and organized.
  • Assist with general material-handling and site-support duties as directed.
  • Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous construction, industrial, logistics, material-handling, or rigging experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of safe lifting practices, hand signals, taglines, and material staging preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with equipment operators, spotters, truck drivers, and other team members.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and remain alert during lifting and equipment operations.
  • Willingness to perform both rigging support and general logistics duties throughout the assignment.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, and attention to safety.
  • Willingness to work the full assigned schedule, including overtime when required.
  • OSHA 10 and recognized rigging or signal-person training are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire workday.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces and around active construction equipment.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle taglines, rigging equipment, and construction materials.
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors in changing weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.

Important Position Requirement

This is not a seated equipment-operator position. The employee must be prepared to remain on their feet throughout the shift and actively support lifting, staging, and general logistics operations. Safety awareness, clear communication, and the willingness to help wherever needed are essential to this role.
